Hi, I’m Nick True and welcome to True Tightwad (.com)
I’m here to help you get a grip on your finances and take hold of freedom.
I’m just a regular dude who wants to be free. Free from debt, free to choose, and free to live on my own terms. And I’m on a journey to become financially independent (fancy for “I wanna be free from money stress!”). If that sounds like something you want too, you’ve come to the right place.
I’m here to help you save more money, understand your finances, reduce your debt, and join me on a journey towards the promised land of financial freedom.
Throughout the past few years, I’ve spent countless hours reading every personal finance book I could get my hands on. Whenever I didn’t understand something I would search google for days trying to find answers to my questions. Although I still don’t have all the answers, my goal with this website is to streamline all that I’ve learned for people like you. I promise to provide you with the most relevant and up-to-date content that will help you meet your financial goals. I want to help you along your journey and encourage you with anecdotes from mine.
If this is your first time, I encourage you to start here. This is a great place to learn what being a True Tightwad is all about.
Who Is a True Tightwad?
“Psh, I’m not a tightwad,” I used to say whenever my brother called me that, “I spend money all the time.” This was the conversation that typically took place after I decided not to buy something that my brother thought I needed.
While I used to be offended at the term, I have since come to realize that tightwad isn’t a bad term, it’s just misunderstood. There is a difference between being tight and being cheap. A True Tightwad makes a conscious choice on where to spend money instead of spending based on feelings. When I realized that by doing the things that earned me that title I was creating more freedom in my life, I decided it was no longer a negative title. I began to own that title and am dedicated to helping people learn that becoming a True Tightwad can lead to more freedom than they ever imagined.
So, who is a True Tightwad?
A True Tightwad is anyone who is ready to make a conscious effort to choose freedom over stuff. I’m a True Tightwad, and you should be too.
